If there was ever a time in history in which we need to walk in the fullness of The Spirit this is it. That sounds great, but it illusive. What does that practically look like for us?

God created us in His image. Jesus explained God is a Spirit (John 4). The Apostle Paul declares us to be spirit, soul and body (1 Thessalonians 5:23). Consequently, we are primarily spirit beings directly connected to the Holy Spirit. This is the connection that gives us the ability, power, and commitment to walk in the Spirit. We all have the ability to walk with Holy Spirit.

We walk in The Spirit by walking peace. The Father wrote to us a said, “I didn’t create you with a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7). It seems to me that the world would rather embrace fear and call it wisdom, rather than walk in courage to trust in the Lord. Sound thinking comes from walking in The Spirit rather than conventional wisdom from flawed humans.

Hearing and obeying The Spirit is walking in peace. This is where it begins for all of us, and it should never stop. Jesus said, “I only speak what I hear the Father say.” While we are all quarantined, we can move in prayer. Prayer for yourself, prayer for others, prayers for healing.

Each person is as unique as his or her fingerprints. The administration of Spiritual Gifts are just as unique as the person that carries them. The Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 12:4-11 that, “Now there are different gifts, but the same spirit. There are different ministries, but the same Lord. And there are different activities, but the same God is active in everyone and everythingA manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person to produce what is beneficial.” (ESV) I am sensitive to issues with land, where others are not. Furthermore, all of those with a similar sensitivity to the land approach it differently and for different purposes.

I have written a couple of books on walking in The Spirit. The most recent, Dance Like You Mean It, is available at Amazon. In it I share ways the Lord has taught me to grow in my gifts. This book is neither an encyclopedia of spiritual gifts, nor is it a “Hey, look at me!” expose. Rather, it is a collection of stories of discovering what tools the Lord has given me and how they operate.

Even during this uncertain time our gifts still function, and people need to experience them. Many need a comforting word. Others need words of encouragement to not give up. Some individuals need to process verbally what they are experiencing. You and your unique gifting is desperately needed. Check on your friends and your neighbors periodically. Find out how you can be a generous light in your neighborhood. When this is all over, you’ll be glad you did.
