I don’t think anyone could have predicted what we are experiencing these days, and it’s all due to the fear of a potent virus that no one has ever seen before. Fear has brought difficulties for people in every social, economic, educational and employment status. Schools and colleges are closed, businesses have a radically reduced customer base, and there is a major travel industry squeeze. All sport and concert events are canceled, assemblies are now limited to 10 or less. International borders have closed. Consequently, we will likely see a rash of small business closures and bankruptcies. The fabric of our country is being irrevocably changed before our eyes.

In my work, I have noticed that there has been a widespread troubling in families for the last sixty days. Long before the current Corona virus issue. Instead, the current world state has been mercilessly piled on top of already painful situations.

We have witnessed broken marriages coming to light, addictions being discovered, jobs lost, strokes in young people, children with cancer, unexplainable repairs needed, catastrophic financial reversals, tornados, and floods. While circumstances happen like this all the time, we are amazed at the frequency.

What’s up with that?

And he (the enemy) shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws.” (Daniel 7:25 KJV)

This is a time to remain in control of your thoughts and your emotions. The best way to do that is to keep your conscious mind filled with the Word, not with the garbage from the media. There is a singular power in the written Word of God. Without it, you will struggle just as Paul described, “For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing.” (Romans 7:18-19 ESV.) Quit listening to the words of fear and concentrate on the Word of peace. You’ll be glad you did.

Here are some passages to get you started:

  1. “You (God) keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” (Isaiah 26:3 ESV)
  2. “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12 KJV)
  3. Pray and declare the whole of Psalm 91 over yourself and your loved ones.
